HUNTR is building technology to modernize how enterprises source, manage and onboard migrant workers, creating a more efficient and transparent path from opportunity to employment.

Across the global economy, businesses face an ongoing challenge: finding and deploying the workers they need at scale. At the same time, millions of people cross borders in search of economic opportunity and 26 million of them are trapped in modern day slavery. The systems connecting workers with employers can be exploited because it is complex and fragmented.  These inefficiencies create space for human trafficking, but they also cause business pain in turnover and low productivity.

Fake job offers. Misleading job conditions. A lack of visibility into what a worker is actually agreeing to before leaving home.  These are not simply recruiting problems. They are examples of the vulnerabilities that can emerge when people, opportunity and information move through systems without enough transparency.

HUNTR is building a different model.

Eagle Freedom Fund is proud to announce its investment in HUNTR, a technology platform founded by Samuel Joy that is modernizing how enterprises source, manage and onboard blue-collar migrant workers.

Building infrastructure for a more transparent labor market

HUNTR brings employers and the worker-sourcing ecosystem into a single platform.

On the demand side, the company works with large enterprises with high-volume blue-collar recruitment needs. On the supply side, HUNTR partners with training organizations, government agencies and recruitment agencies to connect qualified workers with those opportunities.

Its technology helps automate candidate shortlisting, interviews and onboarding, managing the process from workforce planning through deployment.

Unlike a traditional job board or applicant tracking system, HUNTR is designed to provide greater visibility across the entire recruitment journey.

That transparency matters.

HUNTR founder and CEO Samuel Joy has spoken publicly about encountering workers affected by fake job offers and misleading employment conditions. HUNTR's model includes transparent job briefings and training before deployment, while the company has also helped affected workers connect with embassies and identify alternative local employment opportunities.

Why Eagle invested

At Eagle Freedom Fund, we believe some of the world's most persistent problems can be addressed by building better systems around them. Labor exploitation is one of those problems.

Our investment thesis includes backing scalable technologies capable of bringing greater transparency and accountability to systems where exploitation can occur. One of the future realities Eagle Freedom Fund II is working toward is the decimation of labor trafficking through scalable solutions and technology-enabled transparency.

HUNTR approaches that challenge from an important direction: the infrastructure through which workers find and enter employment.  And it does so while addressing a significant commercial need for employers.

“We have 26M labor trafficking victims globally, and many of them are part of cross-border labor exploitation.  Cross-border labor is a multi-billion dollar market that is experiencing significant global pressure to implement safe and fair labor at scale.  HUNTR has demonstrated significant traction is major multi-nationals and is poised to expand their ethical and transparent tech platform to many more customers.” said Wes Lyons, General Partner, Eagle Venture Fund

When business growth and human impact reinforce one another

The companies that interest us most aren't businesses where impact sits alongside the business model.  We look for opportunities where scaling the business can also scale the impact.

For HUNTR, every employer brought into a more transparent recruitment infrastructure and every worker given greater visibility into an employment opportunity represents the potential for a better functioning labor market.

The commercial opportunity is equally important.  That intersection between a significant market need and the potential for meaningful human impact is central to the Eagle Freedom Fund investment thesis.

The founder behind HUNTR

Samuel Joy founded HUNTR with a vision for changing how enterprises access blue-collar talent and how workers access opportunity.

Joy started Huntr out of frustration with the exploitative legacy hiring system used by enterprises in the Middle East that have unfortunately led to human trafficking problems.  “Millions of people cross borders every year in pursuit of a better opportunity, but the systems that connect workers and employers were not built with the transparency or scale today's global labor market requires. We started HUNTR to change that. Our goal is to build the infrastructure for a global workforce market where enterprises can access the talent they need at scale, while workers have greater clarity and confidence in the opportunities they are accepting. If we get that right, business growth and worker protection don't have to compete. They can reinforce one another.” said Joy.

Under his leadership, HUNTR has developed an end-to-end platform designed to replace fragmented recruitment processes with a more connected experience for employers, recruitment partners and workers.

What's next

Eagle's investment will support HUNTR as the company develops the technological rail system to provide mass blue collar jobs in the middle east.

We're excited to welcome Samuel and the HUNTR team to the Eagle Freedom Fund portfolio and to work alongside them as they build technology designed to make global workforce recruitment more efficient, transparent and accountable.
